Domestic DELTA robots are applauded but not sold. Why?

DELTA robots are one of the few commercial parallel structures. Since the patent of DELTA robot expired, more and more DELTA robot companies, both domestically and abroad, have been building DELTA robot companies. Every time I go to an exhibition, I can see two or three new ones coming out, and the starting point of the design is getting higher and higher. However, unfortunately, according to market research, although shipments of DELTA robots in China have been growing, they have never exploded. Judging from shipments, it has always been the few foreign bigwigs who have lost most of them, but the proportion of domestic DELTA robots is indeed very small. So, what is the problem that has led to the slow development of DELTA robots, especially since domestic DELTA robots are not developing as fast as SCARA? What is the difficulty of DELTA robots? Listen to me one by one. 1. The performance characteristic of DELTA robot is one word-fast. This is different from SCARA. SCARA is a tandem robot. Over shorter distances, SCARA can reach or even exceed the speed of DELTA robots, but as the moving distance becomes longer, the advantages of DELTA robots become apparent. Because the DELTA robot does not have the problem of changing hands between left and right like SCARA, it can move at high speed throughout the entire motion space, which is the advantage of the DELTA robot. In order to achieve the goal of speed, the moving parts of the DELTA robot are lightweight, and the load is generally small. DELTA robots exceeding 3kg are even large-load types. In terms of repetitive positioning accuracy, DELTA robots are relatively weak, generally around plus or minus 0.1mm. The DELTA robot's characteristics of small load and low precision make it particularly suitable for sorting in hardware, food, packaging and other industries. This application is characterized by high speed and low precision requirements. But unfortunately, these industries are still labor-intensive industries, especially small workshops. Non-standard equipment is very mature in these industries, so the current demand for robot automation is not so urgent and its promotion is slow. 2. cost problem This is also an embarrassing question. Although DELTA robots are powerful, they are costly. Therefore, when both DELTA robots and SCARA robots are available, DELTA robots are often defeated. Because the DELTA robot is indeed unique, it cannot compete with the SCARA robot in terms of cost. All in all, customers are very satisfied with the performance of the DELTA robot, but when they know the price of the DELTA robot, they can only hope for the DELTA robot to sigh. 3. technical bottleneck This is also the focus of our talk today. Although the mechanical design of the DELTA robot is clear at a glance and seems simple, there are still many technical difficulties in many details. Some domestic DELTA robots have made breakthroughs in these aspects, and some are still working hard. However, vision and tracking are China's weaknesses. First, there are very few vision companies, and second, the stability and accuracy of conveyor belt tracking are uneven. The bigger difference here is not the hardware, but the strength of the algorithm, the software. Therefore, if there is no breakthrough in these two projects, it will be difficult to promote the application of DELTA robots.
